For title transfers please be in the office by 5:00 p.m.
Effective December 1, 2019, a bill of sale is required when transferring titles to motor vehicles and trailers purchased from a private party.

The Motor Vehicle department is NOT where you get your driver's license.

Boats, snowmobiles and ATV's are registered through the Recorder and Registrar's Office, located at the County Administration Building, 913 South Dubuque Street, Iowa City, 356-6093.
