Bernard Murphy served in the Army on active duty during WWII as a Medic in the Iowa National Guard from 1950-1966. He achieved the rank of Master Sergeant and was in charge of medical supplies at the Iowa City National Guard Armory.
Steven Murphy served in the Army from 1969-1971 and was stationed in Germany.
George Murphy served in the Marines from 1973-1977 and was stationed in Japan.
Helen Murphy served in the Iowa National Guard from 1975-1979. She was a member of the University of Iowa ROTC from 1979-1981. She then served on active duty from 1982-1984 and then in the Army Reserves from 1984-1990.
