Dawn Boseneiler
U.S. Air Force
1988-1992
I enlisted in the Air Force after attending college at the University of Iowa and then graduating from the University of Northern Iowa. As a result of having attended College I began my military career with two stripes so I was placed in charge of the entire training flight of over 100 students as their Commander. I then became a Cryptographic Security Specialist in the Communications Field. One memorable assignment involved installing communication systems in the basement of the Pentagon which was full of cockroaches, mice, and rats.
After I completed my two year “time on station” requirement at Griffiss Air Force Base where I met my husband, I joined him on a Joint Spouse Assignment in Germany. Upon completion of my military service obligation of four years and becoming pregnant with our first daughter Shannon, I honorably discharged. Our second daughter Blake was born while we were stationed at McGuire Air Force Base New Jersey.
While stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota I decided to use my GI BILL to complete a Bachelors degree in Nursing from the University of South Dakota.
