Delbert “Jack” Albright was born on July 27, 1918 in Mediapolis, Iowa. His parents moved to Oxford where he attended Oxford High School through 11th grade. Following high school he worked as a butcher for Buehler Brothers Butcher Shop. He served in the United States Army from August 1942 until September 1945.

While in the Army, Private Albright served as a cook. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal - Bronze Service Arrowhead and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal and six Overseas Service Bars.

His records list the following battles and campaigns: Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe, Algeria-French Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, and Northern France.

After his honorable discharge he worked as a butcher for Hy-Vee in Iowa City.
