Sergeant Donald C Tang entered Active duty service in the United States Army October 9, 1942 at Camp Dodge, Iowa. He was a member of Company C 27 Tank Brigade serving in central Europe during WWII. He was awarded the Bronze star and Good Conduct medal among many others. Sergeant Tang completed his military service obligation February 12, 1946 at Jefferson Barracks Missouri with an Honorable discharge.

Sgt. Tang was a Liberator in the Dachau Concentration Camp, one of the first into the camp. As a tanker in the Army, he also crossed the Rhine River from Lahavre France through Germany into Munich. Only 5 tanks survived the crossing of that river and his was one of them.
