I signed up for the Army Air Corps, enlisted Reserve on June 15 1944 at the age of 17 and went active duty in August 1945. Basic Training was at Keesler Field in Mississippi. After Basic, I was shipped overseas on January 1, 1946 for Occupation Duty in Germany. My job was to reduce the number of fighter planes since the war was over. I blew up 25 P-51’s and 55 P-47’s. It was fun for an 18 year old kid with TNT. December 1946 I was heading back home to America and New York just in time for Christmas. My Brother lived in New Jersey and I spent the Holiday with him. I got my discharge in February 1947.
