Gil was born on August 15, 1945 to Gilbert and Betty Lindberg in Elmcrest, Illinois and was the oldest of four children. Gil, also know as "Skip" or Eric graduated from West Branch High School and attended the University of Iowa. Gil served in teh U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Gil married his first wife Joan Stockman in 1979 and welcomed their son, Robert R. Lowenberg. Gil Worked for 30 years at the former Wilton Steel Mill and later retired in 1999 at the age of 54.

Gil later married Sandra Dennis in December 2007 and welcomed her daughter, Amber Corso to their home. Gil enjoyed working on his land whether it be riding his old tractor to mow the lawn, cutting wood from downed tree branches, or taking walks with his dogs Mischief and Romeo or his favorite cat Jasper.

Gil did not mention his time with the Marines in Vietnam much; but proudly has his dress uniform in his closet and old hats on the top of his bookshelf in his den. Gil was a gentle giant always willing to help anyone and to do anything he could to serve or help his community.

Gil will always be remembered by his wife Sandy, and his stepchildren Jesse, Brian, Julie and Amber.

This page is dedicated by his wife Sandy who misses him dearly.
