Born in Decatur, GA in 1917, Curt Thomson entered service after graduation from Georgia Tech in Electrical Engineering; after OCS training at Quantico he studied radar systems at the MIT "RadLab" and joined the USMC VMF(N) 542 night fighter squadron (MAG31) as radio and radar officer (Lt.) at its founding and shipped to the Pacific Theatre- Guam, Peleliu, Ulithi, and Okinawa. He completed wartime service in the Occupation of Japan (Yokusaka) and continued into the USMC Reserves until 1963. He passed away in December 2020 at age 103.
