Anthony Jerome Breuer was born 27 September 1921 the son of John Henry and Emma Elizabeth (Melcher) Breuer. Jerome grew up on the farm northwest of Ashton and attended St Joseph’s Catholic School in Ashton. After his education he helped his father on the family farm.

Jerome enlisted in the military and served his country during WWII. While in the U.S. Army, he served in the European Theater in the 109th Medical Division as an ambulance driver, achieving the rank of Tech 4. Upon his honorable discharge in 1945, Jerome returned to Ashton and held several jobs.

While he was working at Imhoff Oil, Jerome was united in marriage on 17 July 1950, to Dorothy Heibult at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon, IA. Jerome and Dorothy made their home in Ashton where he founded B&O Ford Tractor with his partner Dennis Ostermann, retiring in 1986. Jerome was a 55 year member of the American Legion; 33 year volunteer of the Ashton Fire Department; and a 54 year member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon, IA. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, and traveling. He was also an avid reader and a good mentor.

In 1990, he and Dorothy enjoyed a trip to Germany. In December of 2003, he had a heart attack and soon after started his battle with cancer. On Sunday, 30 January 2005 he was admitted to the Osceola Community Hospital and died at the age of 83. Jerome is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Ashton; three sons, Mark and his wife, Taryn of Blair, NE; Paul and his wife, J.R. of Hauchuca City, AZ; and Glen of Coralville, IA along with five grandchildren.
