John Jerome Kamp

John Kamp was born in Fort Madison, Iowa in 1947. His father and three uncles served as Infantrymen in WWII and Korea. John attended college for two years before joining the Army in February of 1969 where he served as a Medic. He served one tour in Vietnam earning him the Purple Heart, Bronze star, Army Commendation Medal with “V” Device, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and a Unit Citation Device.
He then moved to Iowa City to finish school and to train to become a Physicians Assistant. He also became certified in prosthetics and orthotics. He helped raise two children who are lawyers. John is married to Barbara and is enjoying retirement including travel, biking, and spending time with his grandchildren.
