Joe served in combat operations near Tuy Hoa, along the South China Sea, and the Central Highlands around Pleiku, near the Ho Chi Minh Trail. He has told his story through theater, a play called Telling: Iowa City and has written an historical fiction novel called Landon's Odyssey loosely based on his wartime experiences, and he published a second book entitled The Seal's Lair. Acting and writing has helped him to heal and his hope is that fellow Veterans and their families who have seen the play or read his book will know that they are not alone. Joe Served Honorably from 1966-1968.
