Major General Kenneth “Todd” Royar is a native of Iowa City, IA. He graduated from Iowa City High in 1984 and from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY in 1988, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He commanded units in Germany, Korea, Fort Hood, TX, Fort Campbell, KY and Redstone Arsenal, AL, and deployed in support of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom (2 times) and Operation Enduring Freedom. In his last assignment, Major General Royar was the commander of U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal, AL. As the commander, he led more than 18,000 soldiers and civilians in providing aviation, missile and test, measurement and diagnostic equipment sustainment support to the Joint Warfighter to enable readiness.
Honors Earned: Major General Royar’s awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service medal; three Legions of Merit; three Bronze Star Medals; four Meritorious Service Medals; five Air Medals; four Army Commendation Medals; the Army Achievement Medal; the Combat Action Badge; the Parachutist Badge; the Air Assault Badge; the Master Aviator Badge; and the Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge.
