More Than Brothers, written by Mike Tomash-Final tribute to his brother, Mark, who passed away on September 15, 2001
The day that you came into my life I wondered how this could be!
For before you came along, it was just Mom and Dad and me.
I’m sure at first I didn’t like it and felt there was no reprieve,
But soon it was very certain, you were never going to leave.
I really don’t remember when our friendship started to grow,
But one thing I can tell you is, “I’ve always loved you so”
There were some days we didn’t get along and maybe we would fight,
But by evening we were buddies as we shared our hopes and dreams that night.
When we grew much older and experienced life our own way,
I always knew if I needed you that you were just a phone call away.
In good times or in bad, there wasn’t anything we couldn’t weather,
For there was no challenged that could put us down, as long as we stuck together.
And now that time has come again, for us to go our separate ways,
But nothing can equal the love I’ve felt or the fond memories of those days.
There was something you told me lately that will comfort me to the end,
You said, “It was blood that made us brothers, but love that made us friends”.
