Robert was born July 20, 1918 in Crothersville, Indiana. He then joined the United States Army in 1941. He served in the 38th Division (Cyclone Division,) 152nd Infantry. The Cyclone Division earned its second nickname “Avengers of Bataan” after helping liberate the Philippine Peninsula. He was involved in battles of the southern Philippines, Luzon, and New Guinea. Staff Sergeant Robert Donahue discharged honorably in 1945.

Honors Earned: Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon w/3 Bronze Stars, American Theater Ribbon, American Defense Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon w/1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Ribbon,  & Victory Medal.
