During its formal meeting on Thursday, July 9, 2026, the Board of Supervisors signed a purchase agreement for three parcels located on the NE corner of Capitol Street and Benton Street in Iowa City, for a total purchase price of $5.5 million.

Weather permitting, the ramp from Wright Brothers Blvd. to I-380 Southbound will be closed for up to two months, beginning the morning of Tuesday, July 7. During this closure, construction crews will be working on building a new ramp.

Homeowners who would like to have greener and healthier lawns without using chemicals can apply to have 50% of the costs for soil quality restoration reimbursed (up to $2,000) through the Johnson County Soil Health - Soil Quality Restoration Program.

The Iowa River continues to drop at River Junction. River Junction Access has been opened to vehicular traffic, but users are asked to stay on the roadways. Grassy areas remain wet, and vehicles leaving the roadway may cause rutting and disturbance to the turf.
The Board of Supervisors will discuss the draft Johnson County Strategic Plan at a special work session at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24. The discussion will be facilitated by consulting firm BerryDunn, who worked with Johnson County to create the new plan.
