MEETING MINUTES
Members Present: Donna Brooks, Brandon Davis, Keshia Fields, John Hannaford, Cindy Hudson, Ben Symons for Fiona Johnson, Kate Klemstad, Laurie Nash, Annie Nugent, Kyle Phillips, Jordan Plath, Lynn Rose, Heather Sanderson, and Ana Studt.

Approval of Minutes: Approved June meeting minutes
Next Meeting Date and Time: Tuesday, August 17, 2021
Ice Breaker: Brandon Davis emailed an activity. Connect all 9 dots using a maximum of 4 straight lines without lifting your pen off the paper or retracing back over an existing line. This activity is to teach implicit bias and how we are stuck in thinking of things a certain way.
Budget Balance: $15, 220
Iowa City Pride: In October. Should we have a table at IC and Coralville Pride celebrations? We agreed to have a table for support of LGBTQ+ and to have a flyer that has our mission and/or vision and what we have been doing or plan to do to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. Also give out swag.
Juneteenth as a County Holiday: Is now an official county holiday.
FY22 L&D Events, Activities and Trainings: Possibly a Lunch and Learn of Juneteenth celebration traditions and what they mean. Welcome week for new employees supported by diversity ambassadors. Wait until after the cultural assessment to decide on other trainings.
ARPA: Donna gave us background and the progress being made to distribute this funding. There is a leadership team, a funding needs assessment, public input sessions, and a survey in multiple languages. We talked about various uses that D & I Committee would support.
Non-Discrimination Policy Update: Update next meeting.
Racial Equity Planning Discussion: This would entail a review of policies, procedures, organizational structure, organization culture, etc and how to eliminate barriers for minority populations. Public Health has been studying this for equity in health care. Committee is behind the initiative and will work on a proposal for the Board of Supervisors.
