Soil Health Assessment

All soil samples are sent to Ward Laboratories for analysis.  Specifically, a Soil Health Assessment test is run on all soil samples collected.  This analysis goes beyond the routine soil analysis, and was selected to provide insight on soil fertility but also importantly on soil health by using two biological, one chemical, and one physical indicator to view the microbial activity.   Soil sampling and this analysis will be conducted on a 3 to 5-year rotating basis.  In addition to this analysis the phospholipid fatty acid, or PLFA, test will be run at a lower frequency.  Ward Laboratories, Inc. conducts these analyses.
