MEETING MINUTES
Members Present: Maysa Ahmed, Gary Boseneiler, Brandon Davis, Keshia Fields, John Hannaford, Bill Horning, Cindy Hudson, Lakeshia Jackson, Fiona Johnson, Kate Klefstad, Kristen Morrow, Alyssa Palante, Kyle Phillips, Royceann Porter, Lynn Rose, Heather Sanderson, Ramonda Shelton, Lora Shramek, and Ana Tovar.
Approval of Minutes: Approved meeting minutes of February 16, 2021
Next Meeting Date and Time: Tuesday, April 20, 2021
Ice Breaker: Alyssa. Draw a picture of what an alien would think represents the county
Budget Balance: $5,555.66. Coming up is Tiffany Yu disability seminar for $2,500. Keshia talked her down from $10,000 This is a national speaker. Also $1,000 to African American Museum for Juneteenth celebration.
Anti-Discrimination Policy Update: Lora. Lora is working on a draft and should have it done before the next meeting. Lynn Rose from County Attorney office will review.
Cultural Assessment Update: Keshia. This will come out in Aug or Sept. Participants will have 2 weeks to complete it. It will take about 10 minutes to complete. There will be an individual and county-wide portion of the survey. We discussed who should communicate to staff about it - Keshia, Royceann, somebody else? There will be some kind of incentive to have people complete the survey. We talked about barriers to completing the survey.
Qualtrics Implementation Update: Keshia. There was a meeting with Qualtrics, they will be sending Keshia more info about setting up the application.
*ACTION ITEMS*
If you are doing an article for the JoCo Weekly, please provide a date of when you will submit it and what topic you will discuss. I would like these a month in advance.

Start communicating to your departments/offices about the Cultural Assessment. We would like 100% participation. Bring back any barriers that may exist that will prevent employees from taking the assessment.
Upcoming Internal Events
Tiffany Yu, Let’s Talk Disability, Ableism, and Allyship– March 31, 1:15pm. This is a joint seminar with Iowa City.
External Events
Youth Job Fair – March 24, 3-5pm
-Johnson County is a sponsor. Keshia and Gio working on recruitment video for the virtual fair.
