MEETING MINUTES
Members Present: Maysa Ahmed, Dawn Alam, Donna Brooks, Keshia Fields, John Hannaford, Kate Klefstad, Laurie Nash, Annie Nugent, Alyssa Palante, Kyle Phillips, Royceann Porter, Lynn Rose, and Kelly Weston.
Approval of Minutes: Approved meeting minutes of January 19, 2021.
Next Meeting Date and Time: Tuesday, March 16, 2021
Ice Breaker: Kyle. Keshia, Donna, Dawn, Kyle attended a workshop on listening skills. This ice breakers is part of that workshop. Ask, How are you doing? How do you like to be heard? Discussed listening skills and how we can use these skills to listen to our co-workers. Challenge is how does it work with co-workers this next week or two.
Budget Balance: $5,658.96. Keshia is working to get an outside speaker named Tiffany Yu. The training will be about interacting with people with disabilities. This will be a joint training with Iowa City. In March or April. Keshia negotiated the price from about $10,000 down to $3,000.
FY22 Budget Approval: What happens next? Keshia is going to set up a meeting with Top Rank Talent Solutions - Anthony Arrington & Nikeya Diversity Consulting, LLC - Sarika Bhakta. Members agreed that should be a small sub-committee to work on details of getting the D & I Assessment done.
For Qualtrics software, Keshia, Donna, and John will learn how to use the system. There will be some meetings with Qualtrics.
Mid year Checkup: How do you think the committee is doing? What can we do better? How can we better communicate with the different departments/offices? Had some discussion on this topic. At some point there will be a few committee members that will talk to those departments/offices that don’t have much participation in D & I.

If you are doing an article for the JoCo Weekly, please provide a date of when you will submit it and what topic you will discuss. I would like these a month in advance.
