Description Of Organization And Services
HACAP is a diverse, community-focused nonprofit dedicated to the improvement of families and individuals in our communities. We provide a diverse array of programs and services that work toward removing the barriers of poverty. We collaborate among for-profit, nonprofit, faith-based, service groups and community members in order to make stronger, healthier communities.
HACAP provides multiple programs to the residents of Johnson County:
- LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) makes a one-time payment towards the primary heat source for eligible households in the form of a credit applied directly to the utility company.
- Energy Crisis Program (ECIP) assists households with disconnections, reconnections, missed a payment on a pay arrangement, or less than 30% LP.
- Weatherization works to reduce personal utility costs by improving the housing stock of low-income individuals and families.
- HACAP Food Reservoir works with local agencies to support food pantries accessible to all. People interested in starting a food pantry should contact the Food Reservoir. Map of pantries found on HACAP website.
- Affordable Housing works to provide affordable housing for low-income families. HACAP manages a number of apartments and single-family dwellings for low-income families
- Head Start/Early Head Start are comprehensive early childhood development programs with an overall goal of increasing school readiness of young children in low-income families. In addition, Early Head Start provides a home program for pregnant women and children through the age of 3. Provided at no cost to families.
- Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) is for income-eligible Veterans. SSVF provides case management and supportive services to prevent the imminent loss of a Veteran's home or to rapidly re-house Veterans and their families who are homeless and might remain homeless without this assistance.
