Iowa City Cohousing is creating a multigenerational community of 36 small, energy efficient complete private homes about a mile from downtown Iowa City. Members will own attached homes and a share of a Common House and 8 acres including gardens, orchards and prairie. Some meals will be shared in the Common House which also has activity rooms, guest rooms, and a children's play room. Members will share in governing and maintaining the community. Homes range from 515 square foot studio apartments in the Common House to 1,600 square foot two-level duplexes. Other sizes are 645, 800 and 950 square foot single-level flats. Some homes will be complete in fall 2017.
