Question of the Day: What movie can you watch over and over and never get tired of?  

D & I Committee Business 

  1. Update on engagement poster:  Nikole will put a notice in the JoCo Weekly about eh engagement poster.  She is currently working on the exact wording.  The wording will be on the DEI Committee MS Teams channel for review.  There will be a QR code on the poster to direct people to more diversity information on the web.   
  2. Review of LGBTQ 101 Training:  Went well, engaging, fun, good questions were asked.  There is a video of the training on the Lunch and Learn website.  One Iowa was the trainer and was very good. Some thought it was too long or too basic.  The trainings will have to balance length, frequency, and content to get highest attendance.  Talked about setting training standards for JoCo trainings.  Maybe do some trainings at each normal dept meeting.
  3. Juneteenth Book Club: Nikole is leading the book club.  Nikole will deliver the book to read.  First book club meeting is 6/14 and just intro information.  There will be 5 weekly meeting on Wed at noon.  Virtual or Hybrid.

  1. Discussion of Cultural Competence Framework reading:  Discussed article.  DEI are each separate concepts and interconnected.  You must have cultural humility to have cultural competency.  You have to have introspection and understand yourself.  You have to be comfortable being uncomfortable to learn about other cultures.  Learn how to point out discrepancies in yourself and in others appropriately.  Discussion will continue next meeting.

        4. September – IWA.  Mujeres Latinas Project?
