MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES

Ice Breaker: Dream Vacation

Budget Balance:  $27,060.02

Update on engagement poster:   Finished the poster, will post it in April.  Post in the lobby of each building for a period of time.  Email to staff and/or JoCo Weekly article about the poster.  The poster asks how often you interact with a person of color and people can place a colored sticker in the column of their response.  Also place QR code with link to DEI Committee webpage or resources.

Update on Pronoun Program Development: Looked over the updated “Understanding of Pronouns” survey.  Added Conservation to dept list and combined VA with Social Services.  Will do a Lunch & Learn in May to follow up on Pronoun usage and questions.   

Lunch & Learn schedule: March – Iowa Women’s Archives, April – Public Health, May – probably Pronoun usage, June – Saved for Juneteenth.

Discuss strategic planning framework. Paola is looking to begin ‘Strategic Doing’ in April or May in preparation for the new fiscal year.

Juneteenth update: A group of organizers has been convened for this year’s.  Friday and Sunday events.  Youth logo contest for elementary and Jr High students?  Will need to invite students before school ends, possibly in April or May.

Earth Day/Week Celebration: PDS Soil & Water Conservation person will have some programming.  DEI Committee could present self-guided posters about the importance of water by The River sculpture.
