D & I Committee Business 

  1. DEI Impact Day update: Paola and Nikole contacted Iowa City about hosting food trucks.  Iowa City said we could reserve Riverfront Crossing Park and have food trucks there.  Nikole is figuring out an application form and process for the food trucks to apply.  We will be getting a price for Ladrina Wilson to conduct Leadership Track sessions, 2 for am and 1for pm.  The tentative date for DEI Impact Day is 4/11/24.  A save the date notice will be sent out soon and maybe a video will be made about the day.

 

  1. D&I Professional Development Scholarship Policy update: Paola made a scholarship policy and it will go to the Board of Supervisors soon for approval.  Nikole made an electronic application form and process.  The employee’s supervisor can accept or deny the application.  The only criteria for denial is if they won’t have enough staff to maintain operations.

 

  1. Values update:  The top 5 values that the committee chose are:
    1.  Respect
    2. Diversity
    3. Open-Mindedness
    4. Communications
    5. Trust

Collaboration and Learning may be incorporated into a vision statement

 

  1. Lunch & Learn Schedule:
    1. September – replaced by Disability Inclusion training
    2. October - Iowa Women’s Archives – Mujeres Latinas Project
    3. November – Lulu Merle Johnson historians
    4. December – TBD.  Possibly a pot luck lunch.
