The Board of Supervisors will discuss appointing Erin Shane to fill the Executive Director position at a work session Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Shane was selected to serve as the interim County Auditor for Johnson County in August of this year after the former Auditor, Travis Weipert announced his resignation in July. Previously, she worked in the Johnson County Auditor’s Office as Deputy Auditor and for the University of Iowa as the Associate Director of Parking & Transportation.
“The Board is very excited about the hiring of Erin Shane,” said Johnson County Board of Supervisors Chair, Rod Sullivan. “Erin stepped up to the plate as Interim Auditor at a very crucial time during a major election year. She demonstrated the necessary leadership and managerial skills to ensure a smooth election process for Johnson County voters. Her ability to build trusted relationships with County employees and her work ethic are some of the many reasons why we feel good about this appointment. I know she will hit the ground running and do well in this role."
The Board Office Executive Director provides administrative guidance to the Board of Supervisors and ensures the effective operation of the Board Office and its staff. The Executive Director is also responsible for overseeing the Board Office’s daily operations, projects, policies, budgets, and strategic initiatives on behalf of the Board of Supervisors.
The Board will vote to confirm the appointment during the formal meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 26, and Shane’s expected start date is Dec. 2.
