Weather permitting, road reconstruction is expected to begin the week of April 1, 2024, on 540th Street in Sharon Township. 540th  Street will be closed to through traffic from 400 feet east of Highway 1 to and including the Gable Avenue intersection. Local access to businesses and residences located on this segment of 540th Street shall be maintained.

Construction is expected to be substantially complete by the end of June 2024. The project involves removing the existing chipseal road surface, re-aligning the roadway, replacing roadway pipes, grading and stabilizing the base soils, and surfacing with full-depth hot-mix asphalt. L.L. Pelling Company, Inc. of North Liberty is the prime contractor.
