The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and Johnson County Emergency Management Agency will lead an active shooter training exercise with multiple law enforcement agencies, emergency response agencies, and community agencies on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, at the Clear Creek Amana High School and Middle School. The exercise will begin at 8 a.m. and is anticipated to conclude by 1 p.m.
The parking areas adjacent to the Clear Creek Amana High School and Middle School will be closed from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and trails near the schools will also be closed during this time. Highway 6 and Roberts Ferry Road will remain open. City of Tiffin staff will have signs designating areas closed to the public.
The exercise will depict scenarios law enforcement and responders may encounter in an active shooter emergency on school grounds. The goal of this exercise is to allow agencies to work together cooperatively and in close coordination with each other to prepare for community emergency response situations. Agencies will use information from the training to analyze responses and strengthen multiple-agency coordination. Training exercises like this are an important activity that helps local law enforcement, emergency response agencies, and communities prepare for emergencies.
