FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JOHNSON COUNTY, IA, Nov. 13, 2024 - On November 7, 2024, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Deputy encountered a vehicle driving at 92mph in a 55mph speed zone near Kent Park. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, however the driver refused to stop and eluded for approximately seven miles. The driver lost control and crashed near Swan Lake Rad NW/Half Moon Ave NW. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was 15 years old and sustained minor injuries.
The driver was charged with Felony Eluding, Unsafe Passing, Violation of Intermediate Graduated Driver’s License, Failure to Maintain Control of a Vehicle, Speed 92/55, Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device (Stop Sign), Speed 100/55, and Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device (Road Closed Sign).
