Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Statement Following Incident at Lake MacBride

September 25, 2026 (JOHNSON COUNTY, IA) The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office extends our most heartfelt condolences to the families of Ahmed Osman and Hannah Jorgensen, who suffered the tragic loss of their loved ones this week. We also extend our support and sympathy to Ahmed’s and Hannah’s friends, classmates, coworkers, and all who knew and loved them in our community. 

Our office is continuing to conduct interviews and gather information as part of a thorough investigation into this incident. We do not have further details or updates to share at this time, and we ask for the public’s patience as our investigators ensure this matter is handled with the diligence and care it deserves. We are committed to providing the most comprehensive support and service to Ahmed’s and Hannah’s families, as well as the Johnson County community at large.

We would also like to thank the many local agencies who responded alongside us and worked collaboratively to reunite Ahmed and Hannah with their families during this crisis. Their coordinated efforts reflect the strength and compassion of our first-responder community. 

Our office will share additional information as it becomes appropriate to do so. We respectfully ask the media and the public to honor the privacy of the families as they grieve, and to keep them in your thoughts as they navigate this unimaginable loss.
