The Johnson County Board of Supervisors requests proposals from nonprofit organizations and government entities to lease and manage the 15-unit property at 1102 Hollywood Boulevard in Iowa City.
Proposals should ensure the completion of a 20-year affordability period and demonstrate financial stability, experience with grant compliance, and a tenant selection process that supports Johnson County’s goal of reducing housing access barriers for tenants.
The Board of Supervisors purchased the property in July 2024 for the development of affordable housing. The property will feature newly renovated, two-bedroom, one-bathroom, partially furnished, two-story townhomes. Following a series of energy-efficient upgrades, these homes will be available for occupancy. Johnson County invested a total of $2.25 million in the project.
This purchase is part of a series of initiatives by Johnson County to address affordable housing needs with over a 12,000 unit shortfall for Johnson County’s lowest income renters. In Johnson County, approximately 55% of renters are experiencing housing cost burdens, with 92% of extremely low-income households affected.
Proposals can be submitted through the application portal at https://www.johnsoncountyiowa.gov/bids-and-proposals and are due by noon on Friday, April 4, 2025.
