The Johnson County Board of Supervisors announces four vacancies on the Johnson County Juvenile Justice and Youth Development Policy Board.

One vacancy is for a person categorized as “business, parents, residents or youth” for a three-year term beginning Oct. 1, 2023, and expiring Sept. 30, 2026. Two vacancies are representatives of a social service agency for a three-year term beginning upon appointment and expiring Sept. 30, 2026. One vacancy is for a representative of the juvenile court system.

Duties of the policy board include, but are not limited to, the following: spearhead the development of countywide prevention, intervention and sanctions services coordination; oversee the development of assessment and monitoring systems; review strategic planning and monitor progress of projects; brief the community on the value of asset-building by talking to local groups and engaging in other promotional activities; promote activities that are designed to raise assets in youth; provide and develop funding for asset-building programs in the community; and act as a source of information and communication conduit for various groups and individuals interested in participating in projects.

The policy board meets on a quarterly basis from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on the first Monday of February, May, August and November.
