Weather permitting, construction will begin on F46 (American Legion Road SE), between Taft Avenue SE and Highway 6, on Monday, April 29, 2024. This location is in eastern Johnson County, outside of Iowa City. Work includes grading, widening, hot mix asphalt resurfacing with milling, and culvert replacements and extensions.
Construction will occur in roughly one-mile sections along the road. Flaggers and pilot cars will be used with lane closures during the day. Please plan for delays and use caution when traveling in the construction zone.
A full closure will occur between 400th Street SE and Wapsi Avenue SE to replace two road culverts. This closure is anticipated to last 10 days. A detour route will be in place utilizing Wapsi Avenue SE and 400th Street. Dust alleviation will be applied on the detour route.
Construction is anticipated to last through November 2024. L.L. Pelling Company, Inc. of North Liberty, Iowa is the prime contractor.
