The Johnson County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on the Fiscal Year 2023 proposed property tax levy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022. The meeting will take place in the second-floor boardroom of the Johnson County Administration Building, 913 S. Dubuque Street, Iowa City. Members of the public may also participate via Zoom by clicking on the Zoom Meeting link found in the hearing’s posted agenda.
During the public hearing, any resident or taxpayer may present objections to, or arguments in favor of, the proposed tax levy. After adoption of the proposed tax levy, the Board will set the time and date for a public hearing on the proposed FY2023 county budget and authorize the County Auditor to publish the notice for that public hearing.
Each year, the Johnson County Board of Supervisors, coordinating with other County elected officials and department heads, conducts a thorough budgeting process to create the County’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The public is invited to attend any and all meetings. More information about the FY2023 budget is available at https://www.johnsoncountyiowa.gov/finance/budget-documents.
