Johnson County will host Community Food and Farm Grant application clinics in partnership with the Center for Worker Justice of Eastern Iowa (CWJ) and the IC Compassion Global Food Project this month.

Two application clinics will take place at CWJ, 1556 S 1st Ave #C, Iowa City, IA 52240. The first clinic will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11. The second will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12. Spanish and Arabic interpretation will be available at these application clinics.

One application clinic will take place at IC Compassion, 1035 Wade St., Iowa City, IA 52240 from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18. Spanish and French interpretation will be available at this Compassion application clinic.

Computers will be available for use at all clinics. Individuals who need specific accommodations, including language interpretation, should contact Johnson County Local Foods Staff at [email protected] or 319-688-5840.

Applications must be submitted online. Applications will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, 2022 p.m. The amount of funds requested could exceed the amount available. Applicants are not guaranteed funding.

The Community Food and Farm Grant seeks to increase community-based food production, processing and distribution capacity to strengthen food security in Johnson County. The grant is available to small farm and food businesses, nonprofits and individuals who produce, process or distribute community-based food for consumption in Johnson County, or enable these activities. Entities must also meet additional requirements that are available at www.johnsoncountyiowa.gov/localfoods/grant.
