FY27 Applications Will Open on Wednesday, April 15, 2026

The Johnson County Board of Supervisors Office is offering its first annual round of grants funded through the National Opioid Settlements, available to eligible applicants serving Johnson County residents. These funds, resulting from legal actions against opioid manufacturers, distributors, and retailers, are designed to support evidence-based abatement strategies. Fiscal Year 2027 Grant Cycle 

The FY27 Opioid Settlement Funds (OSF) Community Grants cycle will run July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. Grants will be awarded per the timeline below (subject to change):

Eligibility Criteria
  • OSF Community Grants provide project and program support for nonprofit organizations, Johnson County departments, schools, municipalities, local governments, community-based entities and universities primarily serving Johnson County residents.
  • Proposals must align with Schedule A Core Strategies as indicated in Exhibit 1 of the Memorandum of Understanding with the State of Iowa's Attorney General.
  • Grantees must comply with County insurance requirements: General Liability (including contractual liability) written on occurrence basis with a General Aggregate limit of at least $2 million, including Product/Completed Operations Aggregate limit of at least $1 million, Personal Injury limit of at least $1 million, and an Each Occurrence limit of at least $1 million.
Funding & Awards

A total of approximately $200,000 is available for this program in FY27. Approximately four or five proposals will be selected for awards in the range of $40,000 to $50,000. Requests can range from $25,000 to $75,000. Payments on awards will be approved strictly on a cost-reimbursement basis.

Eligible Projects: Core Strategies

Eligible projects must closely align with one or more of the following Core Strategies identified in Exhibit 1: Schedule A Core Strategies in the State of Iowa's Opioid Allocation Memorandum of Understanding:

A. Expand Naloxone Training and/or Distribution
B. Medication Assisted Treatment - Provision and Prevention
C. Pregnant & Postpartum Women
D. Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome
E. Warm Hand-off & Recovery Services
F. Treatment for the Incarcerated
G. Prevention Programs
