Johnson County Veteran Services will participate in Operation Green Light for Veterans from Nov. 4-11, 2026, to recognize veterans and raise awareness of the resources and services available to them.
Operation Green Light is a nationwide initiative that encourages communities to display green lights as a visible sign of support and appreciation for veterans and their service. The initiative takes place in conjunction with Veterans Day, observed annually on Nov. 11.
As part of the initiative, Johnson County will illuminate the exterior lights at the Administration Building, Health and Human Services Building and the skywalk connecting the two buildings in green from Nov. 4-11.
Residents, businesses and organizations are also encouraged to participate by displaying a green light in a window, at their home or outside their business. By shining a green light, we let our veterans know that they are seen, appreciated and supported.
Now in its sixth year, Operation Green Light is led by the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO). Visit https://www.naco.org/program/operation-green-light-veterans for more information.
Johnson County Veteran Services assists veterans and their eligible dependents in accessing federal, state and local benefits and resources. For more information about services available to veterans, visit https://johnsoncountyiowa.gov/department-of-veterans-affairs.
