Johnson County and the City of Iowa City have been awarded a technical assistance grant to bring field mediation services to our community - an approach that helps address nonviolent interpersonal conflicts through dialogue, de-escalation, and dignity-centered practices.
Each year, the Johnson County Board of Supervisors, coordinating with other County elected officials and department heads, conducts a thorough budgeting process to create the county’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The public is invited to attend all meetings.
The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a construction evaluation resolution relating to the construction of confinement feeding operation structures at its organizational meeting on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.

Due to upcoming holidays, the Johnson County Board of Supervisors weekly meeting schedule is as follows:
The Johnson County Assessor’s Office will be closed for business from noon to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18, for an office meeting, and reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 19.
Most Johnson County governmental departments and offices will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025, in observance of the Christmas holiday. Departments and offices will also be closed Thursday, Jan.
