Most Johnson County governmental departments and offices will be closed Thursday, Dec. 23, and Friday, Dec. 24, 2021, in observance of the Christmas holiday. Departments and offices will also be closed Friday, Dec. 31, 2021, in observance of New Year’s Day.

The recent emergence of the Omicron variant (B.1.1.529) further emphasizes the importance of vaccination, boosters, and prevention efforts needed to protect against COVID-19. Studies show after getting vaccinated against COVID-19, protection against the virus and the ability to prevent infection with variants may decrease over time. A booster shot increases the immune response which means people should have improved protection against COVID-19 infection.
A project to place beams on the Herbert Hoover Highway/F44 bridge that is being constructed over Interstate 80 will require closing Herbert Hoover Highway/F44 over Interstate 80 from 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8, until 5 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, and from 11 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, until 5 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10.
During the road closures, there will be a marked detour route using the Interstate 80 off- and on-ramps.

Board of Supervisors proposes to design and build a Wellness Trail at the Johnson County Historic Poor Farm, that will follow the previously developed Wellness Trail Master Plan.
