The Infant/Toddler Scholarship program offers assistance to parents in paying 80% a quality educational experience for their child. Scholarships are available for children who are not yet 3 on September 15 of the current fiscal year and who meet eligibility guidelines. School Ready Scholarships

The School Ready Scholarship program offers assistance to parents in paying for a quality pre-kindergarten educational experience for their child. Scholarships are available for children who turn 3, 4 or 5 before September 15 of the current fiscal year and who meet eligibility guidelines. For Families

Child eligibility

  • Family income at or below 200% of federal poverty level for School Ready Scholarships and at or below 250% of federal poverty level for Infant & Toddler Scholarships
  • Child 0-5 on September 15 and NOT entering Kindergarten
  • Not eligible for State Child Care Assistance or Promise Jobs funding for this care
  • Head Start slot must not be available for child
  • Child must reside in Johnson County
  • For Infant & Toddler Scholarships ONLY all parents/caregivers must work at least 25 hours per week.


Family Responsibility

  • Families apply directly for the program
  • Families must obtain agreement from their child's care provider to accept reimbursement
  • Families are responsible for following their contract with the provider
  • Families are responsible for any tuition and fees above what the Scholarship provides

 

 

For Providers

Early Education/Preschool Program responsibility

Each early education program will enter into a contract with JCSS for Infant/Toddler Scholarships and Empowerment for School Ready Scholarships agreeing to:

  • Be currently participating in a quality rating demonstration program (NAEYC, NAFCC, QRS, IQ4K)
  • Be reimbursed at their current rate
  • Collect from the family any fees assessed directly to the family
  • Provide performance measure data as required by the state or county
