December 26: First day to request a mailed absentee ballot. (Postponed from December 24 due to holidays.)
January 1: New Years Day, office closed.
January 10, 5 PM: Filing deadline. A primary, if needed, would become official on this date.
January 20: Martin Luther King holiday, office closed.January 21, 5 PM: If a primary is required, deadline for voter pre-registration and mailed absentee ballot requests. (Deadline extended due to holiday.)
February 4: Primary, if required (if three or more candidates file). Only voters in District C may vote.February 12: Under state law, this is the first day in-person early voting is allowed by law and the first day ballots can be mailed. Ballots may not be available by this date; more information will be available closer to the election.
February 17: President's Day, office closed.
February 18, 5 PM: Deadline for voter pre-registration and mailed absentee ballot requests. (Deadline extended due to holiday.) Absentee Ballot Request forms must be in our hands by 5 PM. In-person early voting will still be available after this date.If you need to register in Johnson County or update your address after this date, you will need to follow Election Day Registration procedures in order to vote in this election.
March 3: Last day of in-person early voting.
March 4: Election Day. Polls open from 7 AM to 8 PM. Voters must vote at their assigned polling place.

Swisher - Local Option Sales and Services Tax
Summary: To authorize imposition of a local sales and services tax in the City of Swisher, Iowa at a rate of one percent (1%) to be effective from July 1, 2025.
A local sales and services tax shall be imposed in the City of Swisher, Iowa at a rate of one percent (1%) to be effective from July 1, 2025.
Revenues from the sales and services tax shall be allocated as follows:
50% for property tax relief.
The specific purposes for which the revenues shall otherwise be expended are:
For any lawful purpose including, but not limited to, public safety, parks and recreation, public infrastructure, and economic development. - Early Voting

Nomination Papers
Nomination Petition: No changes may be made to petition pages after signatures have been collected. We recommend completing the header section on the petition, then making copies of that page so that the header information is consistent.
Affidavit of Candidacy: This document must be notarized and no changes may be made to it after notarization. Our office provides notary services free of charge. Candidates should leave the party affiliation section blank, as this is a non-partisan office.
