Johnson County, Iowa – The Johnson County Public Health Mosquito Surveillance Program, in collaboration with testing from Iowa State University and the University of Iowa Hygienic Lab, have identified a pool of mosquitoes testing positive for West Nile virus (WNV).

The first installment of Johnson County property and mobile home taxes are due on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021. The last day to pay property taxes without a penalty is Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021. A penalty of 1 ½ percent per month will be attached to late payments beginning Friday, Oct. 1, 2021.

Johnson County was recently recognized by AARP as an age-friendly community and was officially accepted into the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities. Johnson County is the first county to receive this designation in the State of Iowa.
The AARP age-friendly network challenges states, counties, cities, towns and rural areas to prepare for the rapid aging of the population of the United States. Communities are encouraged to focus on and strengthen features and services that help make communities livable for residents of all ages.

Ambulance: Johnson County Ambulance Service (JCAS) will be available for routine and emergency response. The JCAS billing and administrative offices will be closed. Emergency services remain available 365 days a year. In an emergency, residents should always dial 911.
