Heritage Area Agency on Aging helps older adults, family caregivers and adults with disabilities live with dignity and independence in the home they choose. From quick help and information services to long-term, in-depth support, Heritage programs are designed to empower consumers at any stage in the aging process.

Services include: information services, case management, nutrition programs, caregiver support and education, elder abuse prevention and intervention, evidence-based health programs and more.

HACAP is a diverse, community-focused nonprofit dedicated to the improvement of families and individuals in our communities.  We provide a diverse array of programs and services that work toward removing the barriers of poverty. We collaborate among for-profit, nonprofit, faith-based, service groups and community members in order to make stronger, healthier communities.

HACAP provides multiple programs to the residents of Johnson County:

Guardian Security Systems, Inc., or GuardianIowa, has been in business for the past 24 years providing monitored security, fire and medical emergency response equipment and services to clients in Eastern Iowa. GuardianIowa has met the requirements necessary to be licensed by the Iowa Department of Public Safety. Owner, John Hadley, holds the highest level of certification for fire alarm systems by the National Institute of Engineering Technologies (NICET). GuardianIowa is bonded and insured.

Griswold Home Care provides flexible services on your terms. What are non-medical home care services? Non-medical home care assists with activities of daily living, or, the things that we normally do to remain functional at home. What type of care do you need? Our Care Coordinators are trained on working with you to understand your needs. You may have an idea of what home care services you need help with today, but most clients are amazed at the variety of services that a referred caregiver can assist with to make you and your loved one more comfortable.

We are a vibrant and distinctive senior living community offering extraordinary common areas and remarkable programs and services delivered by our dedicated and compassionate staff. We offer INDEPENDENT, ASSISTED, and MEMORY CARE services. A variety of formal, casual and private dining venues including Fireside Dining, Southview Dining, Cafe Bridgewater, Bistro, and Legends Club. The Forum Performance Theater providing theatrical, musical, recital, and lifelong learning programs.

Since 1983, the Free Lunch Program (FLP) has been providing "an open door, full plate, no questions asked." Over 900 volunteers on 36 different serving teams from the Iowa City/Coralville area, and from communities as far as 60 miles away, take turns providing the noon meal 6 days a week. (Additional volunteers are sometimes needed; contact the FLP volunteer coordinator for information on volunteer opportunities.) Volunteers use their own food, donated food obtained via Table to Table Food Distribution Network, and/or low-cost food purchased by the FLP from the HACAP Food Reservoir.

Everyday Helper was created to serve the community with a special focus of helping seniors to live as independently as they can for as long as possible.

We offer personalized assistance so you don't have to leave the comfort of your home.

We offer the following services:

-Household assistance-  cleaning, decluttering, and organizing, laundry, dishes, etc.

-Errand running- pharmacy runs, grocery story pick ups, etc.

-Senior non medical companion care

-Dog walking and pet sitting

Fifty-four full-size, one-bedroom apartments with large kitchen and bathroom. 100% handicapped accessible. Private dining room, library, computer learning center, three-seasons porch, and patio. 

Rents start at $675.00 per month depending on availability.

Meals on Wheels helps older adults and persons with disabilities in Eastern Iowa meet their daily nutritional needs by delivering hot, fresh, ready-to-eat meals in addition to frozen meals and breakfast bags.

Our clients can receive meals for a short duration while they’re recovering from a hospital stay, as respite care for their family who usually provides meals for them, or on an ongoing basis each weekday.

Eighty-one apartments: 71 one-bedroom apartments with 530 square feet (estimated), and 10 studio apartments with 450 square feet (estimated). Of these 81, eight are mobility accessible apartments. Gas and electric utilities are included in the rent as well as wi-fi. A telephone and cable television is available at the tenant's expense. Reserved covered parking space is available in the lower level of the Iowa Avenue parking ramp. There is a central laundry facility and large community room for social events and family gatherings.
