WHO WE ARE

Access 2 Independence (A2I) of the Eastern Iowa Corridor is one of six Centers for Independent Living (CILs) serving the state of Iowa, and one of over 350 CILs operating across the United States. A2I originated in 1976 out of the Independent Living and Disability Rights movements of the 1960s and 70s. A2I serves eight counties in the state of Iowa. Those counties are, Benton, Cedar, Henry, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn, and Washington county.

Our mission is to enhance the lives of older adults by providing services and resources to assist them in remaining independent. Services include: Pathways Adult Day Health Center, transportation, minor and major home repairs including snow removal and lawn mowing services.

AARP Driver Safety

For more than 30 years, AARP Driver Safety has helped millions of drivers learn defensive driving techniques to help them stay safe on the road. 55+ RSVP- Retired Senior Volunteer Program - A Program of the United Way of Johnson & Washington Counties

RSVP is one of the largest volunteer networks in the nation for people 55 and better. It is a federal program under Senior Corps, which is part of the Corporation for National and Community Service. Housed locally by United Way of Johnson & Washington Counties. The United Way 55+ RSVP Program serves three counties - Johnson, Muscatine, and Des Moines. Engages community members 55+ in meaningful volunteer opportunities to meet community needs that benefit citizens of all ages as well as enrich the life of the volunteer.
