Bayertown Road SW over a branch of Picayune Creek will be closed starting October 15

The Bayertown Road SW bridge over a branch of Picayune Creek will be closed to traffic starting Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025. This location is approximately five miles west/southwest of Hills, in Sharon Township. Work includes complete bridge reconstruction, approach roadway and grading.

Weather permitting, construction is anticipated to be completed by February 2026. Iowa Bridge & Culvert LC of Washington, Iowa, is the prime contractor.

Johnson County Livable Community for Successful Aging to host Healthy Aging Fair on October 8

The Healthy Aging Fair will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the North Liberty Community Center, 520 W. Cherry Street, North Liberty.

The fair is a free event and will offer presentations, health screenings and a vaccine clinic. The resource fair will consist of representatives from more than 70 community organizations that provide services to older adults, as well as presentations on bone health, meal planning for one to two people and an interactive Tai Chi demonstration.
