Livable Community for Successful Aging Policy Board April 8, 2025 Meeting Minutes

Explore local food, innovative farming practices, history and nature at the Historic Poor Farm Field Day & Open House from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at the Johnson County Historic Poor Farm, 4811 Melrose Avenue, Iowa City.

Johnson County will launch a new online portal for development and building permit applications Monday, July 14.  

The new platform will make it easier for residents, business owners, contractors and others to submit building permit and development applications as well as wastewater system applications. The public can also use the portal to upload plans, schedule inspections, pay fees and track project status. Code complaints can also be submitted through the platform.

Most Johnson County governmental departments and offices will be closed on Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.

Detailed schedule changes include:

Ambulance: Johnson County Ambulance Service (JCAS) will be available for routine and emergency response. The JCAS billing and administrative offices will be closed. Emergency services remain available 365 days a year. In an emergency, residents should always dial 911.
