Second installment of property taxes due, late payment penalties begin April 1, 2026
Johnson County property owners are reminded that the second installment of property and mobile home taxes is due March 1, 2026. Payments need to be delivered to the Treasurer’s Office, paid online or postmarked by Tuesday, March 31, 2026, to avoid a 1 ? percent monthly penalty that will begin on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
In-person payments must be made at the Treasurer’s Office, located at the Johnson County Administration Building at 913 S. Dubuque St. in Iowa City. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Presidents Day 2026 hours for Johnson County governmental offices
Most Johnson County governmental offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, in observance of Presidents Day.
Detailed schedule changes and other office closures include:
Ambulance: Johnson County Ambulance Service (JCAS) will be available for routine and emergency response. The JCAS billing and administrative offices will be closed. Emergency services remain available 365 days a year. In an emergency, residents should always dial 911.
