Johnson County Commission of Veterans Affairs vacancies

The Johnson County Board of Supervisors announces two vacancies on the Johnson County Commission of Veterans Affairs for a three-year term beginning June 1, 2026, and expiring May 31, 2029.

The Commission establishes the eligibility for veterans’ general assistance, claims, and denials. They also provide guidance to the Johnson County Veteran Services Director.

Johnson County adds additional community forum for new strategic plan

The Board of Supervisors invites residents, businesses and community organizations to provide input for the next Johnson County strategic plan by attending the following in-person community forum:

  • Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, 6 p.m., Dream City, classroom, 611 Southgate Ave, Iowa City

Johnson County is developing a new strategic plan to guide County priorities, policies and budget decisions for the next three to five years. The strategic plan will serve as a roadmap for measuring progress and adapting to new opportunities and challenges as they arise.

Johnson County Public Health Reaffirms Support for the American Academy of Pediatrics Childhood Vaccination Schedule

Iowa City, IA — The Johnson County Board of Health is reaffirming its strong support for the childhood immunization schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). The schedule is based on decades of scientific research and is carefully designed to protect children from serious and potentially life-threatening diseases at the ages when they are most vulnerable.
