Anyone can host or facilitate a meeting--from an informal group of friends to a regularly-scheduled meeting of a community organization. The Meeting in a Box provides a guide for the conversation, but the host can change or adapt the approach as needed.

On March 11, 2021, the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) was signed into law by President Biden. This legislation established the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund. Through the Fiscal Recovery Fund, Congress provided State, local, and Tribal governments with significant resources to respond to the COVID-19 public health emergency and its economic impacts through four categories of eligible uses:

  • To respond to the public health emergency or its negative economic impacts, including assistance to households, small businesses, and nonprofits, or aid to impacted industries, such as tourism, travel, and hospitality;
  • To respond to workers performing essential work during the COVID-19 public health emergency by providing premium pay to eligible workers;
  • For the provision of government services to the extent of the reduction in revenue due to the COVID-19 public health emergency relative to revenues collected in the most recent full fiscal year prior to the emergency; and
  • To make necessary investments in water, sewer, or broadband infrastructure.

It is the mission of the Johnson County Board of Supervisors to enhance the quality of life of residents by providing exceptional public services in a collaborative, responsive, and fiscally-accountable manner. True to our mission, the Board will take a three-pronged approach to utilizing Johnson County's American Rescue Plan Act funding:

  • stabilize our community;
  • strategize together to invest in future prosperity; and
  • organize our resources to enable an inclusive recovery from COVID-19.

On January 6, 2022, the U.S. Treasury released the Final Rule on eligible uses of these funds. For more information, please visit the U.S. Department of Treasury website.
