Johnson County property owners are reminded that the second installment of property and mobile home taxes is due March 1, 2026. Payments need to be delivered to the Treasurer’s Office, paid online or postmarked by Tuesday, March 31, 2026, to avoid a 1 ? percent monthly penalty that will begin on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

In-person payments must be made at the Treasurer’s Office, located at the Johnson County Administration Building at 913 S. Dubuque St. in Iowa City. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Most Johnson County governmental offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, in observance of Presidents Day. 

Detailed schedule changes and other office closures include: 

Ambulance: Johnson County Ambulance Service (JCAS) will be available for routine and emergency response. The JCAS billing and administrative offices will be closed. Emergency services remain available 365 days a year. In an emergency, residents should always dial 911.

Johnson County is developing a new strategic plan to guide County priorities, policies, and budget decisions over the next three to five years and is seeking community input. The strategic plan will serve as a roadmap for setting priorities, measuring progress, and adapting to new opportunities and challenges as they arise.

The Johnson County Board of Supervisors weekly formal meeting, originally scheduled for 5:30 p.m., is rescheduled to 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026.
