Juneteenth 2024 hours for Johnson County departments and offices

Most Johnson County governmental departments and offices will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in observance of Juneteenth.

Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, 2 ½ years after the Emancipation Proclamation, Union soldiers sailed into Galveston, Texas, and read aloud the order, freeing a quarter of a million slaves who were residing in the state.

Detailed schedule changes follow.

540th Street in Sharon Township open to traffic

The Johnson County Secondary Roads Department announces that the road work on 540th Street between Hwy 1 and Gable Avenue in Sharon Township is substantially complete, and the road is open to traffic.

The contractor will continue to perform seeding, finishing, and other punch-list work over the next several weeks, so please anticipate some daytime lane or shoulder closures as you travel through the work zone and drive defensively.
