Johnson County Compensation Commission vacancies

The Johnson County Board of Supervisors announces eight vacancies on the Johnson County Compensation Commission for one-year terms beginning upon appointment and expiring Dec. 31, 2022.

Duties include assessment of damage to all property taken by an acquiring agency and located in the county. No member of the Compensation Commission selected shall possess any interest in the proceeding which would cause such person to render a biased decision.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2022 hours for Johnson County offices

Most Johnson County governmental offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Detailed schedule changes and other office closures include:

Ambulance: Johnson County Ambulance Service (JCAS) will be available for routine and emergency response. The JCAS billing and administrative offices will be closed. Emergency services remain available 365 days a year. In an emergency, residents should always dial 911.

Johnson County Civil Service Commission vacancy

The Johnson County Board of Supervisors announces one vacancy on the Johnson County Civil Service Commission for a six-year term beginning upon appointment and expiring June 30, 2028. Due to the current political make-up of the Commission, this appointee may identify with any political party or as “no party;” however, all applicants must disclose their political affiliation, so the Board of Supervisors can choose subsequent appointments which will maintain balance on the Commission, as mandated by Iowa Code 341A.2.

Johnson County Board of Supervisors appoints Porter as new chairperson

The Johnson County Board of Supervisors addressed a number of organizational issues for 2022 in its first formal meeting of the year today, Monday, Jan. 3, 2022. The Board began by appointing Royceann Porter as Chairperson for 2022. Lisa Green-Douglass was appointed Vice Chairperson. This vote marks a historic milestone for Johnson County, as Supervisor Porter is the first African-American to serve as chairperson of the Board since the County’s establishment in 1837.
