COVID-19 Community Level Status Change

Due to factors that include reported cases and COVID-19 hospital admissions, the CDC has updated the COVID-19 Community Level Status to ‘High’ in Johnson County. The COVID-19 Community Levels helps communities and individuals make decisions based on their local context for COVID-19.

Johnson County in need of Republican poll workers for June 7th Primary Election

In preparation for the Primary Election to be held on Tuesday, June 7th, the Johnson County Auditor’s Office has been actively recruiting Precinct Election Officials (PEOs, more commonly known as poll workers) to staff the county’s 64 precincts on Election Day. Due to the unique demographics of Johnson County, it has been especially difficult to find enough Republican PEOs.

Johnson County Direct Assistance Program application deadline extended through 2 p.m. Friday, May 27

The Johnson County Direct Assistance Program application period has been extended until 2 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022. Residents who are low- to moderate-income with documented hardship due to COVID-19 are invited to apply for a $1,400 emergency relief payment. The program provides one-time, financial assistance. Only Johnson County residents are eligible for the program.

Residents can receive additional application assistance from 12 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 26 in Room 203 B/C of the Health and Human Services Building, 855 S. Dubuque Street, Iowa City.
